Here is a listing for this community event held in New Paltz...In the words of the sponsors:
Hudson Valley Annual Pride Parade in New Paltz. will be held on Sunday, June 7th from 12-5. This year's theme will center on marriage equality and fighting for our civil rights. We say, “Love=Love,” and claim our rights to marriage and to live our lives enjoying the same rights and privileges as non-LGBTQ citizens. We are excited by how far America has come, as evidenced by the election of our first African-American President; at the same time, the passage of Proposition 8 in California shows how far we have yet to go in treating all Americans with the dignity and respect they deserve. Whether you are LGBTQ or an ally, the time has come to show your support for equal rights. Come join us as we march down Main Street in New Paltz where, five years ago, same-sex couples were married by then-Mayor Jason West.
And from your own home, click here to find out how to voice your support for marriage equality.

Teens Clean L. Verne Allen Park!
7 teens, and 5 adults came out for the UUCRT's second annual Washingtonville wetlands clean-up this year on Saturday, April 25th. 40 bags of trash and recyclables were collected from the creek and surrounding park area--home to mallards, frogs, turtles, and other wildlife. Thank you to all our teens, parents, and senior citizens for your help in caring for our earth! And special thank you to Marcia Tucci for organizing this event.

Social Action Opportunities for May
May 18-22, 2009. FEED THE NEED Orange County. Our local food pantries are in crisis as more and more people find themselves in need, and fewer donations are coming in. Help local families by bringing items to the UUCRT throughout May. Items most needed include: canned (tuna, vegetables, ham); powdered milk; toiletries (toothpaste, tissue paper, etc.); and dry goods (cereal, pasta, rice, etc.). County-wide collection sponsored by Leadership Orange.
Saturday, May 30th from 8:45am-4:00pm UU Anti-Racism Conclave at Community Church in NY. I will be attending, and am looking for others to join! The focus of this year’s conclave is “Environmental Justice and Anti-Oppression”. Explore ways to seek for justice for all people and care for the Earth. Ages 14 & up are welcome. Register through the Metro NY District website at http://uumetrony.org/events/events.htm.
